Nanyima was bursting with colour when the Pioneer River Orchid and Plant Association joined us recently for their much-loved annual visit.
The two-day event has become a highlight on the calendar, and it’s easy to see why. “Everywhere you looked stunning orchids, in every shade and shape, turned our outdoor courtyard into a beautiful, living display,” says Lifestyle Lead, Tanya.
Residents strolled among the orchards, admiring the delicate flowers proudly presented by the visiting enthusiasts. There was plenty of laughter and conversation too, as everyone swapped stories about their favourite flowers and fond memories of their own gardens.
The Association hosted well-attended demonstrations sharing expert tips on orchid care, from repotting techniques to watering and feeding.
Resident Judith couldn’t take her eyes off the beautiful blooms. “I loved everything!” she said. “The courtyard was packed with flowers and plants, the demonstrations were interesting, and I learned so many new things.”
“I was even given a lovely orchid for my room,” she smiled.
Although the event has wrapped up, several residents are still buzzing with inspiration – and are trying their hand at growing their own orchids.
Thank you, Pioneer River Orchid and Plant Association, for treating our residents to another lovely event.
