Residents enjoy walking for wellness

Aah, a spot of sunshine and stories shared! There is nothing better than a stroll around the garden with friends.

Nanyima residents enjoy their regular walks around the established gardens, where they enjoy the fresh air while admiring the flowerbeds and veggie patches. The group likes to reminisce particularly about gardens they used to nurture or visit.

Resident Mary says she loves going for walks. “It’s lovely to be out, enjoying the fresh air and a talk with my friends,” she says.

The residents find lots of different ways to stay strong and healthy. For additional fun, and extra steps, they compete in indoor sports including golf, bowls, volleyball, darts and bocce. Some, like Yvonne, join in the dancing when the Wonder Kids visit the community.

At Nanyima, we recognise the multiple benefits that exercise can bring to a resident’s physical and emotional wellbeing and our team plans and promotes regular exercise as well as activities that include or encourage movement. We’ll soon be adding a fishing group to the mix, too.

“It’s all about retaining mobility and building strength to enhance and enrich residents’ lives, while fostering vitality and well-being,” says Manager, Bien.
