A scenic drive connects the past with the future
Nanyima residents love enjoying the warmer weather with special outings and scenic drives through the local community. Reminiscing and sharing stories with neighbours and staff brings everyone so much joy.
After hearing of the expansion of Ring Road, this was must-see destination for residents.
The new Ring Road bypasses Mackay and travels through the countryside and farmlands where some of the residents grew up. As we drove above the farmlands, residents marvelled at the changes and shared memories about the days gone by.
Residents reflected on the progress over the years and how much Mackay has changed. The Paget industrial area was a real highlight where residents saw the huge machinery and sheds, and the number of businesses that make up this precinct.
Resident Keith said, “I really value family and community connections, so it’s nice to go on outings and keep up to date with what’s happening in the local area. I’m astounded by the growth and the new beautiful places to visit.”
On the way home, we cooled down with a treat from McDonald’s, with ice cream sundaes being the most popular choice!
